Frequently asked questions
What hair types are your products aimed at?
Our pioneer range currently launched has been formulated to be suitable for all hair types, but keep an eye out in the future for more focus specific products... exciting things ahead!
Does your Bye Dry Hair Mask repair split ends?
There is no product or treatment on the market that can repair or magically fix split ends (even if it falsely claims to). The only way existing split ends is to cut them off.
Our hair mask boosts the hydration in hair, helps reinforce hair bonds, and improves the strength, robustness, manageability and overall texture of hair, so that it maintains a better condition to prevent further damage and dryness to hair in the long run.
Why should I "double shampoo" my hair?
Double shampooing (i.e. shampooing your hair twice) is how you actually properly clean your scalp and roots.
Our solid shampoo bar is gentle enough not to strip the natural oils of your scalp and roots, and has added inulin to help support your scalp microbiome. Your scalp health is the actual foundation for healthy hair and growth.
Why do some of the ingredients not sound so "natural"?
The INCI descriptions we are required to list for our products do seem straight from chemistry textbook right?
A good example is Behentrimonium Methosulfate, which is actually a gentle, plant-derived conditioning agent derived from rapeseed oil.
Another one is Cetostearyl Alcohol, which the type we use is an emollient derived from coconut oil.
We are working on adding an Ingredient Glossary, so you can see what each and every ingredient we use is, what it is derived from, and what is its purpose. Knowledge is power, and we are all about sharing why and how these serve your skin and hair, because these are why we've carefully selected them for our formulations.
Why are silicones, sulphates and parabens bad for your hair?
Silicones
Silicones are man-made, are not inherently bad for your hair. They do have their place in hair care as they are primary ingredient that aid in heat defense formulas for heat styling. They create a barrier that disperses heat and glide for heat styling tools, that reduces damage caused by the heat.
In terms of hair health, silicones do build up on the hair shaft over time, and can lock out moisture, causing dry hair as the same barrier that protects hair prevents water, conditioning, and nourishing treatments from penetrating the hair shaft, dehydrating the underneath of the surface. Fun face, most commercial shampoos and conditioners contain silicones as it gives hair a great feel, but this is just at surface level pretty much.
Sulphates
Sulphates are harsh cleaning agents that can strip away too much natural oil from your hair and scalp. This can contribute to dryness, frizz, breakage, and scalp irritation, as well as colour fading in dyed faster.
Parabens
Parabens are synthetic chemical preservatives that can irritate the scalp, dry out hair, and disrupt hormonal balance.
How long do you take to restock "Out of stock" items?
Restocking is usually within 2-3 days for most of our products, with the exception of our cold process soaps. These need 4-6 weeks to cure, but you are able to book soaps on pre-order, or have the option to cure at home from our restock batches.
Why do the soaps need to cure?
This allows them to go through the full saponification process which turns the nourishing oils and butters into beautiful soap. Curing also allows to soaps to dry out and harden. The harder they are, the longer they last.
Is your packaging biodegradeble?
We have a passion for sustainability, so we have focused on 100% recyclable cardboard tube packaging primarily and reusable containers as our alternatives, with paper labels we design and print inhouse. We strive to keep our environmental footprint as light as possible.
